Our Introductory Options

New to climbing or to our gym? We offer great options to introduce you to Climb Base5 and to climbing – it’s seriously fun!

  • Climb Time Session

    Designed for the beginner or not-yet-belay-certified climber. Our staff set up the gear and manage the ropes for you, during this 2 hour climbing session. The session may include a mix of adult and young climbers.

  • Climb Time Session / 14-yrs old +

    We get it. Sometimes you just want to have some big people time! Here’s our popular Climb Time sessions for anyone 14-years old and over. Only available on weekdays.

School Break Camps

Increase the fun this school break and find excitement and adventure with our awesome School Break Camps. We’ve created exciting programs with inspiring coaches, a safe environment, guidance, knowledge, and crazy fun.

  • Summer: Half-Day Climbing Fundamentals

    Registration OPEN! – Have fun this summer and learn the fundamentals of climbing… Our program covers the basics of setting up and managing climbing safety systems, and provides instruction and coaching on the basics of climbing movement.

  • Summer: Climbing + Gymnastics

    Registration OPEN! – In this full-day and weekly summer break camp Climb Base5 is joining forces with Club Aviva gymnastics to provide a camp experience that is fun, interactive and challenges both the mind and body.

  • Summer: Climbing + Cycling

    Registration OPEN! – Our week-long full day summer camp from July 31st to August 4th, 2017 offers a great introduction to climbing and multi-discipline biking. This camp combines both indoor and outdoor activities and partners with Cycling BC’s iRide program.

    Let our supportive and enthusiastic team run your event. We have a grassy area suitable for an outdoor gatherings and a conference room for meetings. We can even organize your catering needs.

Youth Courses

The objectives of our youth development program are: personal growth, discipline and lifelong learning; safety, respect and fair play; and skill and technical mastery before performance and results.

  • Climbing FUNdamentals 1

    Registration for Fall 2017 opens mid July – This is where your climbing development and journey begins… This course is focused on skills development, finding passion for climbing and having fun!

  • Climbing FUNdamentals 2

    Registration for Fall 2017 opens mid July – This course will be build on skills and knowledge from FUNdamentals 1. Participants will be introduced to new skills such as intermediate movement skills and basic training organization.

  • Development Team

    Registration for Fall 2017 opens mid July – The development team is geared toward athletes looking to learn about and prepare for climbing competitions and performance climbing.

  • Performance4Life Team

    Registration for Fall 2017 opens mid July – This course is intended for athletes who would like to continue pursuing personal performance, but who do not wish to compete on a regular basis.

  • Comp Performance Team 1

    By invitation only – Contact andrew@climbbase5.com – Climbers follow a training program with the goal of competing. Comp Performance Team 1 is for athletes between the ages of 12-16 years old with 2-4 years of competitive experience.

  • Comp Performance Team 2

    By invitation only – Contact andrew@climbbase5.com – Climbers follow a training program with the goal of competing. Comp Performance Team 2 is for athletes between the ages of 15-19 years old with 4+ years of competitive experience.

  • Competition Camp: Route-Setting

    Coming 2017 – This 2.5 day camp is geared towards athletes interested in improving their route-setting for competitions.

  • Competition Camp: U14

    Coming 2017 – This four-day climbing camp focuses on evaluation and skill building for the competition setting.

Adult Courses

AP4L1

Whether you’re looking to learn the basics, improve certain climbing skills, train for World Cup Competition Circuit or chase that next letter grade on your project in Squamish, Climb Base5 is the place to develop further as a climber.

  • Intro Belay Course

    Our 2-hour lesson will teach you all the required skills for indoor climbing.

  • Lead Belay Course

    Once you have mastered the top rope skills from the intro belay course, you are ready for the next step. Learn about dynamic belay techniques, clipping, hazard awareness, fall forces, and fall arrest using the dynamic belay method.

  • Technical Climbing Course 1

    This course explores the fundamentals of climbing movement. Warm ups and cool downs, footwork, body positioning, grip choice, balanced movement, and mental preparation.

  • Technical Climbing Course 2

    This course builds on the techniques and principles taught in Technical Climbing 1. We revisit a few basic principles of footwork, weight transfers, and efficient body positions, in order to prepare you to think about climbing in a new way.
