Get your dyno on with Launch and Latch 2018

Unfortunately we have to postpone the dyno series and comp… sorry for the inconvenience. The good news is that we’ll still be having an awesome Dyno Comp for Grillin’ and Chillin’ on Oct 20!

Straight from the brains of our routesetters (specifically Hayden pictured below), we’re organizing a unique dyno series and competition from September to October. There’s going to be three qualifiers and the OPEN FINALS will take place the night of Grillin’ and Chillin’, our customer appreciation party!

Whether you’re new or a veteran climber, tall or short, it’s going to be fun, challenging, and dyno-licious.

  • Series 1: Wednesday, September 5 (6:30 – 930pm)
  • Series 2″ Wednesday, September 26 (6:30 – 930pm)
  • Series 3: Wednesday, October 17 (6:30 – 930pm)
  • Finals: Saturday, October 20 (8:00-9:00pm during Grillin’ and Chillin’)


  • Climb Base5 Coquitlam – 98 Brigantine Dr.

Cost – Includes all three qualifiers and Grillin & Chillin Ticket

  • Early Bird by August 26th (Members $30 / Non-members $60)
  • After August 26th (Members $40 / Non-members $70)


  • Open men (finals at Grillin’ & Chillin’)
  • Open woman (finals at Grillin’ & Chillin’)
  • Rec (you are 4’11” and under)
  • Rec (you are 5′-5’8″)
  • Rec (you are 5’9″+)


  • Dynos will only be for registered competitors
  • 20-25 dyno scramble format
  • 3-hour time period
  • All boulders count
  • No attempts
  • Judging based on an honor system with signature to verify send
  • Top two results from the series of three will give you a ranking
  • Each dyno is worth 1000 points divided by the amount of sends it gets

Finals (open men and woman only)

  • Quota: top 6 ranked in each category
  • Set dyno rounds progressively getting harder
  • Three tries to send each dyno
  • No send=knocked out
  • If nobody sends the round re-starts


  • Cash Prize for Open Categories 1st, 2nd, 3rd
  • 5 Time Punch Pass Prize for Rec Winners
  • Podiums for all 5 categories will be announced at Grillin & Chillin after the Open Finals
