Fall 2017 registration open for Climb4Life youth development program

The 2017 fall session of our popular youth development program is now open for registration!

The Climb4Life Youth Development Program is about instilling safe, sound, and fun principles of climbing and physical development. This means we pay special attention to how we train, what we teach and at what ages concepts and loads of training are introduced to young climbers.

The objectives of the program are:

  • Personal growth, discipline and lifelong learning.
  • Safety, respect and fair play.
  • Skill and technical mastery before performance and results.

Climbing Fundamentals 1

Come discover your passion for rock climbing! Designed for first time climbers only, this introductory course is where young climbers learn climbing basics.

  • Learn to belay
  • Develop safety skills
  • Discover basic movement and technique
  • Understand Climbology (Climbing terminology)

Ages: 8-12 years old

Course Length: 12 weeks, 1 session per week, 1.5 hours/session

Dates: September 11th – December 3rd, 2017

Cost: $255 + tax

Climbing Fundamentals 2

Continue growing your knowledge, skill and passion! This program builds on the knowledge and skills developed in Climbing Fundamentals 1; Program content is usually mastered over 2-3 sessions.

  • Master intermediate movements and techniques
  • Learn basic training organization
  • Warming up
  • Training protocols
  • Conditioning
  • Team Dynamics

Ages: 8-12 years old

Course Length: 12 weeks, 1 session per week, 1.5 hours/session

Dates: September 11th – December 3rd, 2017

Cost: $255 + tax


Development Team

By invitation only.

Discover for yourself – gear your training towards Competition Climbing or Performance for Life. The development team is for athletes looking to learn about, and prepare for climbing competitions and performance climbing. Athletes will have to option to compete while training in this program.

  • Learn competition formats and tactics
  • Discover lead climbing and lead belaying
  • Develop transferable indoor to outdoor skills and knowledge

Ages: 11-15

Course Length: 12 weeks, 2 sessions per week, 2 hours/session

Course Days: Thursday or Friday, and Sunday

Dates: September 14th – December 3rd, 2017

Cost: $435 + tax

Performance 4 Life

By invitation only.

Enjoy the power that comes with training for personal enjoyment and growth. This course is intended for athletes who would like to continue pursuing personal climbing performance, but who do not wish to compete on a regular basis.

Ages: 13-19

Course Length: 12 weeks, 2 sessions per week, 2.5 hours/session.

Course Days: Tuesday or Friday and Sunday

Dates: September 14th – December 3rd, 2017

Cost: $489 + gst

Comp Performance Team 1 & 2

By invitation only.

Train with top coach Andrew Wilson; grow your knowledge, skill and mental/physical power and strength. Climbers follow a training program with the goal of competing; designed for athletes between the ages of 12-16 years old with 2-4 years of competitive experience (Comp 1) and athletes between the ages of 15-19 years old with 4+ years of competitive experience (Comp 2).

Course Length: September 11th – March 11th, 2018

Course Days: 3x per week

Cost: $1225 + tax / $1275 + tax (for monthly installments)
